Friday, October 18th will be day two of the CTLE Fall Conference “Anchors Away: Cruising Toward a Positive Classroom Experience”, and you can still register.

The first excursion of the conference headed out to harbor on Monday, October 14th with Keynote Speaker Zeena Hicks, author of 28 Days of Positivity. Her presentation highlighted the principles of positive psychology, focusing on positive subjective experiences and character strengths. She emphasized how cultivating positive emotions and leveraging personal strengths could enhance well-being, resilience, and overall improved life balance. Some of the things that participants said and liked are:
- Learning about self determination theory and positive mind set for myself as an instructor and for students. It really got me thinking about how to apply what I learned to the classroom and my teaching and support approach.
- I really appreciated the examples the speaker provided and overall environment of the training.
- The whole presentation was done well.
- I appreciate learning about the measurement tools for assessing character strengths as well as the array of exercises provided and methods for promoting positivity.
- I walked away with quality information and ideas for implementation.
- Knowing that much of what we do is subconscious, including negative thoughts. By pausing and reframing, we can break the cycle and make positive change.
- I enjoyed the slideshow presentation that had pictures, that include studies, and especially the activities.
This Friday we will hoist the anchors for a second time with a packed afternoon of activities hosted via Zoom. There will be eight different presentations and a panel, all focusing on facilitiating and fostering a positive student experience. You can visit Day 2 of the Anchors Away website for a detailed line up of the day’s events. You can also earn 3.5 hours of FPG if you attend the entire event.

There is still time to register. The event runs from 12:30 pm to 4:20 pm this Friday, and we hope to see you there!
