Using the PressbooksEDU ebook publishing platform, the Maricopa Open Digital (MOD) Press supports students, faculty, and staff across Maricopa County Community Colleges in the discovery, sharing, and creation of digital publications, including individually-authored and remixed open educational resources (OER).
The best way to understand MOD Press is to take a look at what has already been created. If you haven’t already, I recommend you take a look at MOD Press:
Good for Your Students
When faculty use an online OER digital textbook, MOD Press allows students to read the book in a web browser, or export it to multiple formats including portable document format (PDF) for print, Digital PDF, MOBI for Kindle, and EPUB. Our students can choose the format that works best for them and download it at no cost.

Talk to an OER Champion
If you’re not sure about creating OER or using MOD Press, talk it through with a colleague! The OER Champions are a growing group of GCC faculty who want to share their love of different approaches to Open. You can informally meet, ask questions, and get help from an OER Champion. Come by with a quick question and know that someone is ready to chat with you during OER Office Hours (with in-person and virtual options).
Get Help Using MOD Press
As the CTLE’s Instructional Developer, I’m serving as GCC’s network manager for MOD Press. I am available to help GCC faculty get started using MOD Press, and I can provide support as you begin looking for existing content or creating new content. If the Lunch n’ Learn schedule doesn’t mesh with your calendar, book a 30-minute appointment with me at a time that works for you.
