~Student Success & Completion Committee~

We’re past the midterm hump, and inevitably most of us–faculty, staff, and students– are feeling tired and overwhelmed and ready for a break…and lots of dessert. It’s the predictable November slump when our professional attire–and even attitudes–have been retired and when we start getting a bit more…well, real, with our students.

We witness students, who have thus far been consistent in work and attendance, disappear into the ether, no longer showing up to class and no longer responding to the “just checking in!” emails we send. The reality is, when we lose our students at this point in the semester it’s often because of life stuff versus class stuff. It’s beyond the scope of most of our our professional positions to offer mental, emotional, and financial supports directly, but we (the Student Success and Completion Committee) want to remind you of some really helpful resources that might just make the difference for our students and help them successfully cross that finish line in December when we can all officially swap our work shoes for slippers.

Here is a website compilation of resources from our very own GCC webpage to make finding and sharing resources even easier: https://sites.google.com/gccaz.edu/studentsuccessresources/home
