Well folks, that’s a wrap on the Teaching in the Wild West conference, and what a rip-roarin’ ride it was. Over the course of two jam-packed days, educators saddled up to tackle the big questions plaguin’ our dusty trail: wranglin’ AI in the classroom, rustlin’ up fresh assessment methods, and buildin’ inclusive spaces for every learner under the sun. The conversations were spirited, the ideas flowed like a river after a spring thaw, and the camaraderie was strong enough to hold through the fiercest prairie wind.
Not to tute our own horn, but doggone it, this conference was a real barn burner! 100% of the participants said loud and clear that the event had a solid aim to help improve teachin’, and by golly, it hit the mark. Whether they strongly agreed or just plain agreed, the message rang true: we set out to do somethin’ good for education, and we sure enough delivered. Here are some comments from our participating cowboys and cowgirls:
- All the sessions provided excellent content.
- The theme was adorable and made learning fun.
- All were great! I loved the variety.
- Group (Panel) discussions were excellent.
- I really enjoyed the variety of the sessions and the fun theme.
- I found all of the sessions useful; some great ideas for increasing engagement were presented.
- Each of the sessions during the “Teaching in the Wild West” workshop had direct teaching strategies that could be implemented right away.
- The variety was awesome. I loved that there were quick take-aways as well as more research-heavy topics that require some thought and planning to carefully implement.
- I loved this conference! I feel there was something for everyone!
- This was another great workshop put on by the CTLE. Having the chance to hear how other instructors are having success in their classrooms is very meaningful.
As the final campfire embers died down, one thing was clear: we ain’t teachin’ in the old world no more. The new frontier is wild, unpredictable, and full of promise. It’ll take grit, gumption, and a whole lotta heart from faculty to thrive. But if this here gathering proved anything, it’s that we’ve got a posse of brave, trailblazin’ educators ready to ride.
If you couldn’t hitch your wagon to the trail for one or both days, don’t fret, just mosey on over to the Teaching in the Wild West website. That’s where you’ll find all the goods: resources from the roundup, the town newspaper, Wanted Posters & Rewards, and even the legendary Great Pardon for those who missed out. No need to hang your head, partner, cuz we’ve saved a seat at the campfire for ya.
