If you use audio recordings for your course, you may one day need transcriptions, which are good for:

  • students with hearing disabilities
  • students who prefer to read rather than listen
  • students who would like to search the content of your audio recording and review a specific section (audio files alone are not searchable, but the transcription would be)

The video above describes how to use the SpeechLogger web application with “virtual line-in cable” software such as VoiceMeeter or LoopBack to play digital audio into your web browser so that SpeechLogger can transcribe what is said.

You will still have to correct any incorrect words, add capitalization and punctuation. But using SpeechLogger means you won’t have to do all the listening and typing yourself.
