Want to help students protect their property, connect to their campus and be engaged all at once? Here is a simple activity to do one to two times during a semester that can do just that!
- Step 1-At the beginning of your class (or even before class begins) post an email, via the projector, that is distributed by campus safety reporting the ‘bad behaviors’ during the past couple of weeks for students to read.
- Step 2-Ask students, with a partner or in a small group, to identify common themes (items left unattended, etc.) or to identify how many of the crimes could have been prevented.
- Step 3-Have students create and share with their class a suggestion or two on what they can do as an individual to prevent something like this happening to them.
By increasing awareness, you can help decrease crime!
