Creating an online class orientation is very important when teaching online. A good introduction to your online class could make or break the course for some students. If they can manage the orientation, it’s a good sign for both of you that managing the class is possible. The video below shows you how I’ve set up my online course orientation for a freshman composition course based on the Quality Matters (QM) rubric standards.
Quality Matters is a faculty-centered, peer review process that is designed to certify the quality of online and blended courses. Maricopa is a QM member, and we encourage and train our faculty to design quality online and hybrid courses using the rubric as a guide and a mechanism for evaluating our courses. You can download a copy of the QM Rubric from their website.
